GENERAL MERCHANDISE

CIFAS appoints new chief executive

Joining the organisation on 13 September, Dukes will succeed the current chief executive Peter Hurst who is standing down after 14 years in the role.

Dukes will move to CIFAS from the Centre for the Protection of National Infrastructure where he is head of cyber. Prior to this, he held senior roles in government communications and public affairs and, in the early 2000s, worked in law enforcement countering serious and organised crime activity in the UK.

CIFAS chairman, Ken Cherrett, said: “I am delighted that Simon has accepted the role. He is an experienced, well-respected figure within the public sector. CIFAS has developed significantly in recent years to meet the evolving needs of organisations in the fight against fraud. Simon possesses a strong mix of industry knowledge, relevant background, plus communications and management skills and we are fortunate to have found an individual of his calibre to carry on the outstanding work and continued innovation achieved under Peter’s leadership.”

Current chief executive, Peter Hurst, added: “I look forward to supporting Simon while he settles into his new role. CIFAS continues to bring increasing levels of sophistication to the fight against fraud and I have every confidence that Simon’s experience and skill set make him just the right person to build on this important work.”
