Apple takes top spot in league table of UK's most popular employers
New research has found that Apple is the best company to work for in the UK following a study of millions of employee reviews.
According to data released by job site Indeed, the US tech giant came top of a ranking of the UK’s best employers, although the top 25 companies were dominated by homegrown firms.
Apple’s first place was attributed to an enjoyable work culture, good rates of pay and free or discounted technology for staff.
Coming in second place was Humberside-based Wren Kitchens which scored consistently highly for valuing and treating its employees well.
Mark Pullan, managing director at Wren Kitchens, said: “Wren is a family business, passionate about giving our customers their dream kitchen. We truly believe in developing our staff to their full potential. We have a fast paced, hard working culture, and those who put the effort in are rewarded with great earning potential and a fun, fulfilling career.”
Looking at other retail firms, Lush came in seventh place while John Lewis took the eighth spot. Other retailers in the top 25 included Marks & Spencer (10), Harrods (11), Clarks (14), Pandora (15) Adidas (18), The Perfume Shop (22) and Tesco (24).
Bill Richards, UK managing director of Indeed, said: “Companies that make their employees feel valued and offer a positive working environment score consistently highly among the reviews posted on Indeed. As we continue to see for many staff, work-life balance, career prospects and a great workplace culture can all mean more than a good salary alone.”
