Just Eat chief executive steps down
Just Eat Takeaway has announced that its founder Jitse Groen has stepped down as chief executive and will be succeeded by Roberto Gandolfo on 1 January.
The news follows Just Eat’s recent acquisition by Prosus for €4.1 billion.
Initially called Takeaway.com, the business was established by Groen in 2000 in a small attic in Enschede in the Netherlands. Since then, he has grown it to a major global player in the online on-demand delivery space. Last year, the company completed 653 million orders and processed €19 billion in gross merchandise value.
Gandolfo is currently chair of the Just Eat Takeaway supervisory board and head of Prosus Europe. He joined Prosus in 2025 after more than a decade at iFood, where he was chief executive of the marketplace business. His appointment will be subject to approval by the Dutch Central Bank.
Gandolfo will be replaced as chair of the supervisory board by Prosus chief executive Fabricio Bloisi.
