Just Eat launches AI voice assistant for UK customers

Just Eat has introduced a new AI voice assistant on iOS and Android as it looks to make ordering on its platform easier.

Launching initially in the UK ahead of Just Eat’s global markets, the technology allows customers to place orders by speaking instead of navigating menus.

Just Eat said the move tackles the issue of “choice overload” as its platform of 100,000 partners continues to grow. The AI voice assistant aims to act as a personal ‘delivery concierge’ that offers tailored recommendations based on genuine interaction.

Capable of processing dozens of languages, the assistant is designed to understand user intent, even when questions are phrased loosely or informally. It then delivers meaningful and relevant recommendations by interpreting intent through natural conversation.

Mert Öztekin, chief technology officer at Just Eat, said: “We are always innovating and continually focused on leveraging technology to improve the ordering journey for our millions of customers.

“This custom-built conversational assistant represents a major step forward, making our service more intuitive and accessible.”
