Ocado extends partnership with Groupe Casino

Online grocer Ocado is to extend its partnership with the Groupe Casino supermarket chain in France.

Through the extension, a new exclusive joint venture will be created to provide logistics services to OSP-powered customer fulfilment centres in France, which will be available to all grocery retailers.

In a statement, Ocado said the joint venture will draw on the combined strengths of both businesses to provide services such as project management for CFC construction and set-up, as well as the recruitment and operations management of personnel.

The extension will also see Groupe Casino deploy Ocado’s in-store fulfilment solution across its Monoprix store estate.

The move follows the success of  the companies’ partnership and expanding operations in Ile-de-France.

Tim Steiner, chief executive of Ocado Group, said: “The online grocery channel in France has reached an inflection point, with a huge rise in demand for compelling, affordable and efficient grocery ecommerce propositions. Our growing partnership and live operations in Ile-de-France have set the highest bar for the experience French consumers can expect in online grocery.”
