Aldi commits to cheapest Easter prices

Aldi has promised that the retailer will have the lowest prices on traditional Easter dinner items this year.

The supermarket said it is keeping prices down on dinner essentials such as British Pork Loin Joint (£3.75 per kg), British Prime Gammon Joint (£3.99 per kg) and Whole Legs of Lamb (£6.19 per kg), of which it expects to sell 200,000 units across Easter weekend.

It has also pledged that it will not be beaten on the price of Easter vegetables like carrots, parsnips and white potatoes.

Giles Hurley, Aldi chief executive, said: “We know Easter is a special time for families to come together and enjoy a delicious home-cooked meal.

“That’s why we’ve guaranteed our prices will be the cheapest across all our Easter favourites so shoppers can plan ahead with confidence.”

Aldi said sales of its premium Specially Selected range have surged by 11% in the past year as more shoppers choose to eat at home than in restaurants due to the cost of living.
