Poundland invests in major makeovers at 150 stores

Poundland will be giving 150 stores in the UK and Ireland major makeovers by the end of August.

The ‘Project Evo’ transformations will mark the first significant investment in the majority of the stores for over five years. Both customer aisles and colleague areas will get a major renovation.

Contractors are currently working on site in 11 locations and refurbishments will be completed this weekend in Poundland stores in Urmston, Keynsham, Darlington and Plymouth and in Dealz stores in Ireland at Mullingar and Cavan.

Meanwhile, Poundland stores in Keighley, Leeds (Crown Point), Coventry and Chatham, and a Dealz store in Athlone, will complete their makeovers on 24 February.

An additional 31 Project Evo transformations will take place on subsequent Saturdays bringing the total number of stores transformed under the programme to 42 by Easter.

Poundland said the refreshed stores will offer the most comprehensive ranges yet in the location, including chilled and frozen food, and the latest clothing and homewares ranges from Poundland’s parent company Pepco.

After the alterations, all the stores will have been reconfigured to offer more baby and kids clothing.

Poundland’s director of property services Alan Smallman said: “Project Evo represents a significant investment in a substantial number of stores to make them brilliant places to shop and work.

“Over the past five years we’ve transformed our offer for customers, adding extensive ranges of clothing, homewares, chilled and frozen food.

“We’re now embarking on a programme that will show off those ranges in a modern and bright environment that’s easy to shop, navigate and checkout.

“We look forward to bringing our best offer to these 150 stores over the coming months.”

Earlier this month, Poundland announced that it had begun a complete overhaul of its general merchandise ranges that will include the introduction of 2,000 new lines across all its 850-plus stores in the UK and Ireland.

It has also recently completed makeovers in 11 former Wilko stores in England and Wales.
