Metrocentre hails Superdrug upsize and signing of Sostrene Grene

Metrocentre has announced that Sostrene Grene will be joining its line-up later this year while Superdrug will be upsizing its existing store.

Sostrene Grene has signed for a 5,000 square foot unit opposite Next in the Lower Green Mall from where it will sell its affordable range of home décor, furniture, craft and gift items.

Mikkel Grene, co-owner and group chief executive of Søstrene Grene, said: “Metrocentre is a strategically important centre to be part of further strengthening our presence in the region and making it a natural fit for our growing UK portfolio.

“This new space will enable us to serve an even broader customer base and expand our presence in the region, whilst complementing the lovely line-up of brands already calling Metrocentre home.”

Meanwhile, Superdrug will be upsizing by 31% to 10,000 square feet in the centre’s Red Mall. The new space will be fitted out in line with the the retailer’s latest concept with enhanced signage, flooring, ceiling tiles, and energy-efficient LED lighting. In addition to health and beauty products, the shop will offer a range of treatments and cosmetic services.

Ben Cox, director at Sovereign Centros from CBRE, asset managers of Metrocentre, said: “We firmly believe that creating growth opportunities for existing brands is paramount to not just a successful tenant mix, but the overall visitor experience.

“Superdrug will be benefiting from that after years of success, delivering a greater range of services and products in a better and more enhanced environment.

“The arrival of Sostrene Grene will also elevate the centre, with both retailers highlighting confidence in our destination as we provide even more reasons for people to visit and uphold our position as the go-to destination in the North East.”
