Ocado to offer ‘fine dining’ frozen ready meals for pets

Ocado is to begin offering a range of premium frozen ready meals for pets through a partnership with pet food brand Ted’s Bowls.

The dishes will appeal to the increasing number of owners who want “fine dining”  and healthy options for their pets.

The range of seven microwavable dishes will contain at least 70% human-grade meat, poultry or fish for dogs and 98% for cats, and will aim to offer a balanced diet enriched with vitamins and minerals. Products for dogs will also include British seasonal fruit and vegetables. Dishes are also free from bones and grains.

Priced between £4.49 to £4.59 for a 300-gram portion, meals will include products such as lamb with garden mint and venison with blackberries. Meanwhile, cat lines will include beef and salmon with chicken.

Ocado pet food buyer Meri La Bella told The Grocer: “With the launch of Ted’s Bowl range, our all-important family pets can enjoy even more choice and diversity in what they eat too,

“The convenience of quality frozen ready meals that can be cooked in the microwave straight from the freezer is very appealing, and we think they will be the next big thing in pet food.”
