Naked Wines appoints new chief financial officer

Naked Wines has hired Shawn Tabak as its new chief financial officer.

Due to join the business early next month, he will be based at Naked’s US headquarters in California and will become part of the company’s board.

Tabak was previously vice president of finance at work marketplace Upwork. Prior to that, he was vice president of investor relations and treasury at Shutterfly and chief financial officer at Clean Power.  He also spent 10 years at KPMG in the USA and Australia where he worked across a range of audit and transaction services roles.

Nick Devlin, Naked Wines group chief executive, said: “Shawn’s deep understanding of driving growth through a focus on customer economics and cohorts makes him ideally suited to the role at Naked. Additionally, his understanding of the US market will be highly valuable and recruiting this role in the USA, our largest market, is another key step in our transition from British start-up to a US-led global pureplay.”

Tabak will be replacing James Crawford who has been appointed as managing director of Naked Wines’ UK business. Crawford will hand over to Tabak in December and step down from the board at the end of the year.

Devlin added: “I’m also delighted to be working with James in his new role and given his history with Naked he will hit the ground runningJames has guided the business through many challenges as a start-up and through its growth story and he will now continue to grow our UK operations in his new role as UK MD.
