Frasers Group to close Jenners department store in Edinburgh

Frasers Group is to close the 180-year old Jenners department store in Edinburgh.
The shop will shut its doors for the final time on 3 May and the closure will result in 200 redundancies.
Frasers was unable to reach an agreement on extending the lease at the site with the current landlord.
In a statement, Frasers said: “Despite the global pandemic, numerous lockdowns and the turbulence caused for British retail, the landlord hasn’t been able to work mutually on a fair agreement, therefore resulting in the loss of 200 jobs and a vacant site for the foreseeable future with no immediate plans.
“Our commitment to Frasers’ strategy remains, but landlords and retailers need to work together in a fair manner, especially when all stores are closed.”
