Waitrose appoints new IT director

Waitrose has appointed Cheryl Millington as its new IT director and a member of the Waitrose management board. She will succeed Kevin Berry, who retired earlier this month following a 35-year career in the John Lewis Partnership.

Millington has joined Waitrose from Asda where she was chief information officer with responsibility for the delivery and implementation of all supermarket’s technology projects.  Prior to that, she spent five years at HBOS plc, now Lloyds Banking Group, in a number of roles including director of group programmes and managing director, retail branch network.

Commenting on the appointment Mark Price, Waitrose managing director, said: “Effective use of IT is already of massive importance to our business and will become ever more so as we grow and as technology opens up new possibilities. Cheryl is incredibly well qualified to lead us in this.”
