New retail director appointed at Waitrose

The John Lewis Partnership has appointed Tina Mitchell as the new retail director for the Waitrose supermarket chain.

Due to join the partnership in November, she will be responsible for setting the shop strategy whilst reporting to  Waitrose executive director James Bailey.

Bailey said: “This role is pivotal to our delivery of the Waitrose strategy as we put ‘World Class’ service at the centre of our vision and make Waitrose the ultimate destination for food and drink.  Tina has an impressive track record in retail and I look forward to working with her.”

Mitchell currently works as divisional managing director at the Co-op and has previously worked with Tesco and Selfridges in a variety of operational and strategic roles.

Mitchell said: “I really admire the Waitrose brand and its ethics. I look forward to joining the John Lewis Partnership and working with both Waitrose and John Lewis Partners as the two brands work more closely together to bring new inspiration and excitement to customers.”
