Wickes to unveil new store in Chelmsford

Home improvement retailer Wickes is to open a new store in Chelmsford this summer as part of its ongoing investment in its store estate.

Situated on the site of an old Homebase store in Baynes Place, Waterhouse Lane, the shop will offer a range of home improvement products for both domestic customers and trade professionals.

It will also feature a contemporary kitchen and bathroom showroom where professional design consultants will offer advice and a free design service, as well as an installation service. In addition, the store will provide free delivery on orders above £85, a 30-minute Click & Collect service, and bespoke paint mixing.

Wickes  chief marketing officer Gary Kibble said: “Opening a new store is always a pleasure, but it’s an even greater privilege when it’s in a location where Wickes has deep trading roots from previous decades. The team look forward to welcoming customers, both old and new to the store in Summer 2023 and in the years to come.”

The retailer previously traded in Chelmsford from 1993 to 2018. The return to Chelmsford will expand its existing store estate in Essex.

Wickes property director Sarah Tait added: “With existing stores in Dagenham, Maldon and Braintree, we are thrilled to be welcoming Chelmsford back into our Essex family. As a proud digitally led, service-enabled retailer, the new Wickes store will offer residents of Chelmsford and the surrounding areas a wide range of home improvement products, services, and expert advice from our knowledgeable staff.”
