The Perfume Shop reports strong festive performance
The Perfume Shop has reported strong festive trading with sales of bottles of perfume up 6% year-on-year.
Between 30 November and 24 December, customers bought over 1.58 million bottles from the retailer, the equivalent of more than 63,000 bottles a day.
Subscribe to TRBTotal sales in December rose by 1.6% with scents such as Dior Sauvage, Carolina Herrera Good Girl, and Chanel Coco Mademoiselle leading the way.
While The Perfume Shop saw online searches for its products begin in September, interest peaked around Black Friday and again from mid-December.
Andrea Rickard, trading director at The Perfume Shop, said: “Perfume continues to be one of the most heartfelt and memorable gifts at Christmas. Shoppers were more deliberate this year, waiting for the right moment to buy and choosing gifts that felt thoughtful, from engraved bottles to beautiful new launches.”
The strongest week of the season was between 14 and 20 December online while 23 December was the single biggest in-store trading day.
Gift sets were a standout performer with sales up 4% on last year. Online personalisation was also strong with December usage up 23.74% year-on-year.
