The Perfume Shop reports strong festive performance

The Perfume Shop has reported strong festive trading with sales of bottles of perfume up 6% year-on-year.

Between 30 November and 24 December, customers bought over 1.58 million bottles from the retailer, the equivalent of more than 63,000 bottles a day.

Total sales in December rose by 1.6% with scents such as Dior Sauvage, Carolina Herrera Good Girl, and Chanel Coco Mademoiselle leading the way.

While The Perfume Shop saw online searches for its products begin in September, interest peaked around Black Friday and again from mid-December.

Andrea Rickard, trading director at The Perfume Shop, said: “Perfume continues to be one of the most heartfelt and memorable gifts at Christmas. Shoppers were more deliberate this year, waiting for the right moment to buy and choosing gifts that felt thoughtful, from engraved bottles to beautiful new launches.”

The strongest week of the season was between 14 and 20 December online while 23 December was the single biggest in-store trading day.

Gift sets were a standout performer with sales up 4% on last year. Online personalisation was also strong with December usage up 23.74% year-on-year.

Gill Smith, managing director at The Perfume Shop, said: “Christmas 2025 has been a good and exciting period for us. With over 1.5 million bottles sold, growth in gift sets, and significant uplifts in personalised ribbons and wrapping, it’s clear that customers are looking for thoughtful, high-quality gifts, and they trust us to deliver them both in-store and online.”
