JYSK announces record turnover

Danish homewares retailer JYSK saw its turnover grow to €69.2 million in the UK and Ireland in the year ending August 2021 as sales climbed by 67% year-on-year.

Looking at JYSK’s global performance, its turnover edged up 7% to a record 32.6 billion DKK in the period.

In the UK, online sales were particularly strong and accounted for 28.6% of sales. In addition, the retailer welcomed over one million customers both online and in-store, which was a 29% increase on the previous year.

JYSK is currently expanding  internationally and opened four UK stores, including a flagship in Liverpool, over the last twelve months.

Roni Tuominen, country manager for JYSK UK and Ireland, said “The past twelve months have been challenging for everyone in the retail sector, but we are pleased that JYSK has grown so well as a brand in the UK market. I see this both as a result of customers spending more on home furnishing in general, and as a result of my colleagues across the market being quick to adapt to a new situation and focus more on online sales and click and collect.”

Operating 3,085 stores worldwide, JYSK announced back in February that it is aiming to have 5,000 stores around the world as it looks to open 200 new stores across Europe within the next year.
