Miniso steps up UK expansion

Miniso is planning to accelerate its UK expansion with the opening of at least ten new stores in 2023.

Having launched ten shops in the past year, the family lifestyle product retailer is set to open a new store in Wandsworth on 10 March, which will be its sixth in Greater London. After opening its first UK shops in Ealing in 2019, the company now has 18 stores across the country.

Saad Usman, chief operating officer of Miniso  in the UK, said:  “Everyone wants a bit of fun and joy in their lives and the Miniso
brand is focused on our light-hearted mission of bringing this to all generations. Miniso came to the UK at the right time, with the right products, in the right places, to inspire UK consumers to treat themselves again with everyday affordable luxuries and a novel shopping experience.”

The UK master franchisor and franchisee business has been acknowledged as a trailblazer by its international founders who have built Miniso into a global brand with over 5,300 stores in 105 countries. The company’s wide product offering includes toys such as plushies and games, as well as household gadgets, out-of-home personal accessories and cosmetics.

Usman added: “The retail market had already taken a knock before the pandemic, and the challenges have continued. However, footfall has been returning, and now there is an even stronger appetite among consumers for well-designed, enjoyable, gifts and gadgets, which you can see for yourself in-store. Already, many of Miniso’s franchisees are committed to opening multiple stores rather than single units.”
