Tesco website back up and running after suspected hack

Tesco apologised to customers over the weekend after its website and app went down following a suspected hack.

From Saturday morning and into Sunday, online customers struggled to place orders and track deliveries. When trying to access groceries or look up products, they reported seeing an error message saying there was currently an issue with the website.

With the problem now resolved, Tesco said it was due to an attempt to “interfere” with its systems and that there was no reason to believe that customers’ data had been impacted.

A Tesco spokesperson said: “Our online groceries website and app are back up and running, Our teams have worked around the clock to restore service, and we’re really sorry to our customers for the inconvenience caused.”
