Tesco launches Everyday Low Prices scheme on branded products

Tesco has launched a new Everyday Low Prices scheme where it has committed to keeping the prices of more than 3,000 branded products consistently low.

This includes items such as Weetabix, Fairy Original Liquid, Heinz Baked Beans and PG Tips teabags and is in addition to Tesco’s existing Aldi Price Match on more than 650 lines and over 10,000 Clubcard Prices.

The Everyday Low Prices’ new red logo has been accompanied by the return of Tesco’s blue and white stripes that were created to symbolise value at the retailer. These have now been been brought up to date with a modern twist and will features in a major marketing campaign.

Tesco has marked the launch with new research on how much UK households value the brands they love most. The study found that almost two thirds of shoppers (64%) said they could name at least one brand they would never consider swapping, while nearly a third (31%) said there were several brands they would always stick with.

When asked to select their favourite branded items from a list of 50 well known supermarket products, the top five included Coca Cola, Cadbury’s Hot Chocolate, Fairy Original liquid, Branston Pickle and Heinz Baked Beans.

The research also found that branded choice plays a major role in where people shop. More than 70% of people questioned said a strong range of branded products was an important factor.

Ashwin Prasad, Tesco UK chief executive, said: “Our most-loved brands don’t just have a place in our shopping baskets – they hold a genuine place in the nation’s heart. That’s why we’re committed to keeping prices consistently low on thousands of branded products through our new Everyday Low Prices.

“So, whether you can’t live without Heinz Baked Beans, PG Tips teabags or Fairy Washing Up Liquid – customers can be sure that they are getting consistent great Tesco value on the branded items they love to put in their trollies week after week.”
