Ocado Group appoints chief revenue officer

Ocado Group has appointed Nick de la Vega as chief revenue officer.

Due to take up his role from 19 November, he will lead sales and account management across Ocado’s grocery and non-grocery businesses as the group works through the next next phase of growth.

In addition to leading all of Ocado’s global sales teams, he will oversee and strengthen relationships with the company’s partners, which currently include 13 leading grocery retailers across 11 markets, as well as clients in sectors such as pharmaceuticals and apparel.

Previously head of global sales at IT and consulting business Atos, de la Vega has also held positions at Hewlett Packard and Electronic Data Systems.

The  appointment comes as Ocado Group plans to ramp up commercial discussions worldwide.

Tim Steiner, chief executive of Ocado Group, said de la Vega will play a key role in expanding Ocado’s offering to a wider range of customers while also strengthening relationships with existing partners.

He added: “It has been almost eight years since we started to bring Ocado’s technology to international grocery retailers. Over that time, we have invested significantly in our technology.

“We will now bring the benefits of this investment back to some of the world’s most exciting grocery markets, with a wider fulfilment toolkit, greater flexibility and new commercial leadership.”

Ocado has also announced the retirement of Mark Richardson, chief executive of Ocado Intelligent Automation, who will leave the business in 2026 after 25 years. During that time, he has played a significant role in the evolution of Ocado from an online grocer in the UK to a global solutions provider.

Steiner said: “This is also an important moment to recognise the huge contribution made by Mark Richardson to Ocado during his 25 years with the business, and to thank him for the impact he has made. We wish him all the best in his retirement.”
