Morrisons welcomes new operations director for convenience business

Morrisons has welcomed Peter Batt as the new operations director for its company owned convenience business.

With over 30 years experience in the food industry, Batt was previously managing director of Nisa Retail, working in partnership with 4,000 locations. Before that, he served as divisional managing director at Co-op and worked for nearly 20 years at Sainsbury’s where he held a range of roles in operations, commercial and convenience.

He has also sat on the boards of the Association of Convenience Stores and the Federation of Wholesale Distributors.

Last month, Morrisons reported that group like-for-like sales rose by 3% in its third quarter and also announced price cuts on 650 everyday items and a range of new tailored promotions.
