The supermarket is also lowering prices on its Savers range, across both food and household essentials. as well as introducing offers on branded goods such as Birds Eye Fish Fingers (20pk – now £3.00)  and Tate & Lyle Granulated Sugar (1kg – now £1.09).

Alex Paver, pricing and customer director at Morrisons, said: “We know consumer confidence remains low, and for many of our customers, managing household budgets is a real concern.

“That’s why we’ve focused on lowering the price on everyday essentials and family favourites that we know our customers buy week in, week out.

“By cutting prices across 1000s of key products, we’re helping customers keep the cost of the weekly shop down. This reflects our continued commitment to helping customers spend less, while enjoying the quality Morrisons is known for.”

The supermarket said the new savings will be clearly highlighted in store and on its website to make it easier for customers to spot them.

In March, Morrisons reported that its like-for-like sales increased by 2.8% in the 13 weeks to 25 January as its investment in lowering prices drove immediate volume increases on key lines.
