Asda hires Chris Chalmers as vice president for customer data and loyalty

Asda has appointed Chris Chalmers as vice president for customer data and loyalty.

Due to join the supermarket in January, he will oversee the strategic development and delivery of the Asda Rewards customer loyalty programme, along with digital and performance marketing across Asda.com and George.com. His responsibilities will also cover customer relationship management for both brands and the continued advancement of Asda’s customer data strategy.

The appointment marks a return to Asda for Chalmers as he previously worked as the supermarket’s digital marketing director from 2012 to 2017. He is currently global customer director at JD Sports and earlier in his career held marketing and digital roles at Tesco and Jet2.

Rachel Eyre, chief customer officer at Asda, said: “We are pleased to welcome Chris back to Asda to oversee our customer data, loyalty and digital marketing strategy.

“This is a strategically critical role that will help us build stronger relationships with our customers through smarter use of data, improved digital experiences and a revitalised Rewards programme.”
