Asda appoints group chief information officer
Asda has appointed former Microsoft senior executive Cal Corcoran as group chief information officer.
Due to take up his role on 5 January, he will lead Asda’s technology and data teams as the supermarket continues to develop and optimise its systems following the culmination of its separation from Walmart. He will also be part of Asda’s senior leadership team.
During his 25-year career, Corcoran has worked in IT leadership positions in the big tech, financial services, civil aviation, oil & gas, telecoms, aerospace and defence industries. This has included senior technology roles at Microsoft, Barclays, Gatwick Airport, BP and Castrol.
Allan Leighton, Asda executive chairman, said: “Our use of data and technology is a critical element of our business that enables us to show up for our customers in the ways they expect.
“I’m delighted that Cal is joining the senior leadership team as we double down on our formula for growth as we head into 2026, and I look forward to welcoming Cal to the business next week.”
