Amazon begins offering fast grocery deliveries free with Prime

Amazon has confirmed that its Prime members will now be able to have their groceries delivered fast and free as part of their membership.

Free deliveries through the Amazon Fresh service will start today in London and parts of the South East and will be extended to “millions of other” locations in the UK before the end of the year.

The service will cover meat, seafood, produce, snacks and household essentials and shoppers will be offered free delivery in two-hour windows on orders over £40. In addition, the service’s minimum order value has been lowered from £40 to £15.

Amazon said Prime members will benefit from its fastest grocery delivery offer in the UK which will usually be as fast as same-day for orders placed before 9pm in most areas.

Customers can choose from tens of thousands of grocery items from brands such as Booths, Whole Foods Market, Pepsi, Danone, Arla, Warburtons and Britvic. Amazon Fresh will also offer a selection of premium products from artisan and local producers like Gail’s  Artisan Bakery, C.Lidgate and Paxton & Whitfield.
