Aldi adds contactless payment option at checkout-free store

Aldi has introduced contactless payment at its checkout-free store in London as it looks to payment “quicker and easier” for customers.

This means that shoppers will no longer be required to register via the Shop & Go app on their phones and can simply tap their contactless payment card, or mobile phone, to enter the shop.

Aldi opened its Shop & Go concept store in Greenwich in January last year.  On entering, customers can complete their shop without scanning a single product or going through a checkout.

Ben Shotter, regional managing director at Aldi UK, said: “It has been great to see how positively customers have responded to our Shop&Go trial, and this latest change will help to make it even quicker and easier for people to use the store.

“We’re always looking for ways to improve our customers’ shopping experience, which is what our Shop & Go store is all about.”
