Lululemon to open first India store in Delhi via Tata CLiQ franchise deal

Lululemon is to open its first store in India, at New Delhi’s DLF Promenade, as part of its franchise agreement with Tata CLiQ.

Due to launch this autumn, the store will offer the fitness brand’s clothing for yoga, Pilates, running, training, tennis and golf, as well as athleisurewear.

At the time of the opening, Tata CLiQ will also launch the brand on its platforms, Tata CLiQ Luxury and Tata CLiQ Fashion.

Sarah Clark, senior vice president EMEA at Lululemon said: “Bringing Lululemon to India is a proud milestone for our teams as we continue to grow our brand around the world.

“To prepare for the opening, we have been working with Tata CLiQ to build relationships with the New Delhi community, which has a vibrant and active consumer base that is looking for premium performance products that blend technical innovation with elevated style.

“We are excited to welcome guests across India to Lululemon in the coming months and all that’s ahead for our brand in this fast-growing and energetic market.”

Gopal Asthana, chief executive of Tata CLiQ, said: “Indian consumers are increasingly embracing active lifestyles and are looking for high-performance products that blend functionality and style.

“We believe they will strongly connect with Lululemon’s product offerings and community-first philosophy.”

With a presence in 30 markets, Lululemon is growing its footprint across North America, EMEA, Asia Pacific, and mainland China. Earlier this year, the company entered Poland, Greece, Hungary and Romania through its franchise partnership with Arion Retail Group.
