Burberry makes two senior appointments

Burberry has appointed Matteo Calonaci as chief operating and supply chain officer and Johnattan Leon as chief customer officer.

Reporting to Burberry chief executive Joshua Schulman, Calonaci and Leon with both join the luxury brand’s executive committee.

Calonaci has spent the past five years at Burberry, most recently serving as senior vice president of transformation and strategy. In his new role, he will oversee supply chain and planning, strategy and transformation, as well as data and analytics.

He succeeds Klaus Bierbrauer, Burberry’s current supply chain and industrial officer, who will leave the business after the brand’s winter show and a transition period.

Meanwhile, Leon, who currently serves as Burberry’s senior vice president of commercial and chief of staff, will take on the new position of chief customer officer where he will lead the brand’s customer, client engagement, customer service and retail excellence teams. He will also oversee Burberry’s digital, outlet and commercial operations.

Joshua Schulman said: “Today’s appointments reflect the exceptional talent and leadership we have at Burberry. Both Matteo and Johnattan have been instrumental in strengthening our focus on executional excellence and elevating our customer experience.

“Their deep understanding of our business, our people, and our customers gives me full confidence that their leadership will help drive Burberry Forward.”
