Abercrombie & Fitch appoints senior vice president of environmental, social and governance

Abercrombie & Fitch Co. has appointed Michael Lopez to the newly created role of senior vice president for environmental, social and governance.

In his new position, he will be responsible for leading the fashion retailer’s sustainability, community giving, and inclusion and diversity functions as the company looks to embed its ESG strategy into its business operations.

Fran Horowitz, chief executive of Abercrombie & Fitch Co., said: “We are thrilled to welcome Michael to Abercrombie & Fitch Co. His proven experience across ESG functions will be vital as we look to further expand and align the important efforts of our sustainability, community giving, and inclusion and diversity teams. Over the past several years, we have been on a journey to expand our ESG efforts in order to provide an inclusive experience for our customers and associates and have a positive impact on our global communities.”

Lopez previously worked with Hewlett Packard Enterprise as its chief diversity officer where he was responsible for diversifying the workforce and driving strategies that fostered an inclusive experience for employees. Prior to that, he held various leadership positions at Goldman Sachs, Jefferies & Company and Alcoa.

At Abercrombie & Fitch Co., he will be a member of the company’s executive steering committee and will report directly to chief human resources officer Holly May.
