Rapha appoints Scott Mellin to board
Rapha has appointed former Salomon chief brand officer Scott Mellin to its board of directors.
The appointment comes as the British cycling brand works to expand its global community of riders and cycling club members and deepen its presence in competitive cycling.
Subscribe to TRBIn a statement, Rapha said Mellin’s experience made him a “natural fit” for the company as it looks ahead to its next phase of growth.
Mellin spent three years at Salomon until last month, during which time he was credited with adding $1 billion in net revenue and doubling brand awareness.
Prior to that, he was chief executive of LifeLabs Design and global vice president of mountain sports at The North Face.
Rapha chief executive Fran Millar said: “Scott has a track record of pushing brands to find new cultural relevance whilst deepening authenticity and a sense of heritage.
“That insight will be invaluable as we grow Rapha’s reach without compromising what makes this brand extraordinary. In addition, his credentials in driving product strategy and textile innovation will help sharpen our product pipeline.”
Having lived in the mountains of Aspen, Colorado, and lake-side in Annecy, France, Mellin is a keen cyclist and has been a fan of the Rapha brand since its inception.
Mellin said: “Rapha is in a period of transformation – increasingly confident and starting to innovate at speed.
“I hope to act as a kind of catalyst for those changes, so that the next few years completely reinvent what it feels like to wear Rapha. I am honoured to be joining the brand in this new era.”
