PUMA chief commercial officer Matthias Baeumer to step down

PUMA has announced that its chief commercial officer, Matthias Baeumer, has decided to step down from its management board for personal reasons, with effect from 30 September.

While he will remain with the sportswear brand as a consultant, PUMA chief executive Arthur Hoeld will oversee the company’s sales organisation and subsidiaries until a successor is appointed.

Baeumer has worked with PUMA for almost 20 years and held various leadership positions. He joined the business in 2007 as sales director for PUMA Germany and Benelux. He then took over the role of general manager DACH (Germany, Austria, Switzerland), a position he held for over a decade.

Before being appointed as chief commercial officer, Baeumer was responsible for PUMA’s global business unit, Teamsport.

Prior to joining PUMA, he worked in the consumer goods and automotive industries.

Hoeld said: “I would like to thank Matthias for his commitment to the brand in his various roles and for his contribution to the measures as part of our 3-year transformation journey. I am very happy that he agreed to continue to support us as a consultant. “We wish him all the best in his future endeavours.”

Héloïse Temple-Boyer, chair of the PUMA  supervisory board, said: “On behalf of the Supervisory Board, I would like to thank Matthias for his dedication, passion and leadership. With his strong commercial experience, he celebrated many successes during his time at PUMA. We wish him all the best for his future.”

Last month, PUMA confirmed that Johan Adamsson, VP global sports marketing & sports licensing, was to leave the business after more than 25 years, also for personal reasons. In July, the company announced the appointment of Dusan Hamlin as vice president of ecommerce and ex-Nike exec Marcia Dos Santos as head of its core division.
