Holland & Barrett is actively managing its environmental impact and community engagement through several key initiatives. The health retailer powers 85% of its UK and Irish stores and 26% of its Dutch locations with renewable energy, with plans to extend green power across all operations.
The company's charitable efforts have been substantial, raising over £100,000 for NHS Charities Together and donating £600,000 in care products to hospitals during COVID-19. In response to the Ukraine crisis, Holland & Barrett provided £380,000 in food supplies plus donations of £100,000 to the Disasters Emergency Committee and €50,000 to the Irish Red Cross.
Holland & Barrett also prioritises staff development through its Natural Health Academy, offering government-recognised qualifications equivalent to A-level standard – the first such training programme in UK high street health retail. The company recently introduced specialised training for staff to become experts in areas including sports nutrition, natural beauty, supplements, and food.
