Physical stores were a key contributor to growth, generating £731.3 million in sales. Online growth was also strong with digital sales climbing by 20% and accounting for over 21% of total group revenue.

Anthony Houghton, Holland & Barrett group chief executive, said: “Our purpose is simple and powerful: to help people add quality years to life.

“With societal shifts towards prevention and self-care, there is an increasing global unmet need which Holland & Barrett is well-positioned to serve.

“This year reflected the strength of our proposition, and we are energised by the momentum we’ve built as we continue to transition from a traditional retailer to a long-term health and wellness partner for our customers.”

During the period, Holland & Barrett deployed £124 million in capital expenditure, the highest level in a single year, with £43.5 million dedicated to technology development. The retailer also opened 47 new stores across the UK and Ireland.

Internationally, Holland & Barrett completed over 40 refits in Benelux, expanded to 57 franchised standalone stores, and strengthened partnerships in China and the Middle East. It also established a new local team in China to support future growth.
