UK Retail: Shopper Sentiment Report

Stay at home, save lives came to define the term lockdown in 2020, which in the UK started on 23rd March 2020 when Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, announced that non-essential retail was to shut, and people were to stay at home.

Despite the return to the so called “new normal”, the impact on the population and its shopping behaviours in the past 18 months had no precedent and caused a wide range of reactions among all those affected.

Sensormatic Solutions has been examining the shopper sentiments throughout the pandemic to identify change patterns and discover which of the new behaviours may become habitual.

The report will look at:

  • Impact on retail footfall and shopping patterns in the UK
  • Key results from the three original shopper sentiment studies from September 2020, March 2021 and September 2021 which examine the changing customer behaviour and attitudes
  • Key shoppers’ considerations this Christmas season
  • Generation Mix
