American Apparel launches Amazon stores in UK, Germany and Japan

US fashion brand American Apparel has launched three new merchant stores on Amazon Marketplace in the UK, Germany and Japan.

The move comes following the success of American Apparel’s Amazon store in the US which opened in 2010. The retailer said it launched the UK, German and Japanese stores as a result of current strong sales in the countries and to raise brand awareness among potential new customers.

“With our origins as a wholesale manufacturer, our emphasis has always been on dependable, quality products. We’re really excited to let them speak for themselves on Amazon and introduce the brand to more people in the UK, Germany and Japan,” said Dov Charney, founder and CEO of American Apparel.

American Apparel said it will offer its full product range on Amazon, as well as occasional promotions and offers. Orders will be processed and shipped from the retailer’s headquarters in Los Angeles and returns will be accepted and processed by the company’s local offices in the countries. All three countries will have customer service support in their local languages.

In addition to its four Amazon stores, the company also operates its own 12 regional web stores and recently launched a mobile store in Japan.
