Wickes on track to meet profit forecasts as third quarter sales rise 4.5%
Home improvement retailer Wickes has said it remains on track to meet market forecasts for full year profit after its third quarter revenue grew by 4.5%.
The company said the performance in the 13 weeks to 26 September was driven by volume growth across the business. On a like-for like revenue rose by 4%.
Subscribe to TRBIts retail division saw a significant improvement, with revenue growth stepping up to 6% on the back of higher customer numbers and strong volume increases.
Within retail, sales at Wickes’ TradePro business rose by 8% year-on-year as active TradePro members also increased by 8% to 684,000. DIY sales grew at a mid-single-digit rate, supported by strong demand across core home improvement categories.
In design and installation, which includes kitchens and bathrooms, sales were broadly flat. The company said it continued to see healthy revenue and volume growth in its lifestyle kitchens, but its premium bespoke kitchen ranges were less popular due tio customers being more cautious about larger purchases. Wickes’ overall number of design and installation projects remained flat, and ordered sales by value for the quarter were lower than a year earlier.
During the period, Wickes refitted or refreshed three stores and opened two new sites in Saffron Walden and Colne. For the full year, it plans to open five new stores and refit or refresh 12.
Wickes said it expects to meet market forecasts, which on average show growth in adjusted pre-tax profit of about 10% for 2026.
David Wood, chief executive of Wickes, said: “We’ve delivered a strong third quarter, with growth accelerating across Retail as more customers choose Wickes for their home improvement projects.
“Our continued market share gains demonstrate the strength of our value-led proposition and our ability to outperform in a competitive market. With good momentum across the business, we remain on track to deliver market expectations for full-year profit.”
