IKEA to open new small format store in Chester
IKEA is to open a new small format store in Chester next month as part of its strategy to reach more shoppers by launching in new locations in suburbs, towns and smaller cities.
The shop at Greyhound Retail Park will be IKEA’s third small shop launch this year following openings in Harlow and Essex.
Subscribe to TRBLocated in retail parks, the small shops aim to offer a simpler and more convenient shopping experience than IKEA’s traditional stores, with a compact layout that is easy to navigate and designed for everyday convenience.
Customers in Chester will be able to explore room sets, shop second-hand finds, plan their kitchens and take home a range of home furnishings and small furniture items the same day.
They will also have access to a selection of food available at The Swedish Bite where they can eat in or take away.
Andy MacGregor, unit manager for IKEA Chester, said: “We can’t wait to open our new home in Chester. While a small store, customers can still expect the IKEA experience they know and love, including home furnishing inspiration, our signature food, and expert planning services – and, of course, a warm welcome when we open our doors next month.”
The store will be led by a team of around 35 co-workers with a variety of specialist skills.
IKEA is also planning to open a Plan and Order Point in Dundee in the coming months. This follows the recent launch of Plan and Order Points in Hull and York. The retailer has also opened city centre stores in Brighton and on London’s Oxford Street this year.
The Chester store will open on 9 October.
