Bensons expands virtual appointments and offers stores for use as vaccine centres

Bensons for Beds is expanding its virtual appointments service after closing all its stores due to the new Covid-19 lockdown.

The bed retailer has increased capacity for the service which offers 30-minute consultations via a video call.

Bensons chief operating officer Joe Wykes  said the business will be able to maintain manufacturing despite upstream disruption on its suppliers for raw materials such as foam, fabric and springs.

The company has also revealed that it has written to the UK, Scottish and Welsh governments to offer up all of its stores in England, Scotland and Wales for use as Covid-19 vaccination centres.

Wykes added: “While these are difficult circumstances for so-called non-essential retailers, we’re working hard to maintain our operations for customers who need us.

“But while we’re disappointed to close all our stores once more, we think they could be put to good use.  That’s why we’ve today asked the government to consider local Bensons stores as vaccination centres should the need arise.”
