Superdrug to give 18,000 retail staff extra day off to celebrate Queen’s Jubilee

Superdrug is to give over 18,000 workers across the Superdrug and Savers businesses an additional day off to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

While both retailers will remain open to serve customers over the four-day weekend at the beginning of June, staff within the company’s stores, distribution centres and head office will be able to take an additional day’s leave during the celebratory period.

The company is encouraging other businesses to follow suit.

Superdrug chief executive Peter Macnab explained:  “As a proud British business, we are delighted to be able to give all UK colleagues an additional day off to mark such an incredible moment in British history. We have seen that our retail workers are some of the hardest working people in the country, particularly throughout the last two years. We hope that other forward thinking businesses will follow our lead and give their staff a well-deserved break to enjoy the celebrations this year.”

The extra day off will apply to all staff working across the UK .
