Superdrug sponsors Croydon Stands Tall as giraffes take over the town

Superdrug is sponsoring Croydon Stands Tall, an open-air exhibition of 30 spectacular giraffe sculptures.

The health and beauty retailer is championing the ten-week art trail which aims to help drive footfall to Croydon town centre and support local creative industries.

The move forms part of Superdrug’s partnership with Croydon Business Improvement District.

The trail features 30 eight-foot-tall giraffe installations which have been decorated by artists with a keen focus on the locality. It also includes a number of baby giraffes which have all been embellished by local schools

To enhance the experience for locals and visitors, a dedicated trail map and app have been made available to help people find the colourful creatures.

To end the trail, Croydon will host a special farewell weekend, where all sculptures will be displayed together in one final giraffe spectacular before they are auctioned off in aid of national charity, Crisis.  .

Superdrug’s sponsored giraffe has been designed by Hannah Sykes (@HannDrawnLondon) and is positioned outside Superdrug’s head office. Sykes created the artwork with her HannDrawn style and added influences from Superdrug’s hot pink branding into her design.

The retailer is one of Croydon’s leading employers with 500 colleagues based in the town.

Amy Davies, Superdrug’s people director, said: “To be able to sponsor the initiative with Croydon BID, knowing it supports such a great cause and help support those within the Croydon community is an honour. We’ve got a long heritage in the area, with our head office and several stores located in the heart of the town centre and we look forward to seeing the giraffes around Croydon.”
