Sol de Janeiro expands executive team to support next phase of global growth

Beauty brand Sol de Janeiro has appointed Laurie Lovett as chief people and impact officer as well as Elaine Paik as chief financial officer.

Lovett previously served as global chief people officer at Nielsen and, prior to that, was global human resources officer at Verisk. Earlier in her career, she spent 20 years at Accenture where she helped shape the culture of some of the world’s most complex organisations.

In her new role, Lovett will lead human resources, social impact, and ESG with a focus on a “bold” talent strategy, inclusive leadership, and programmes that reflect the global spirit of the brand.

Meanwhile, Paik was previously chief financial officer of Impossible Foods, worked with Juul Labs, and also spent 25 years at Colgate-Palmolive where she held global leadership roles across finance and strategy, including M&A.

At Sol de Janeiro, she will be instrumental in strengthening the brand’s operational backbone as it accelerates across markets, categories and channels.

Both executives will report to Heela Yang, founder and chief executive of Sol de Janeiro, who said: “Sol de Janeiro was built on the belief that connection is powerful, and people are everything. Laurie and Elaine are exceptional leaders with the vision, empathy, and rigor to help us grow with soul. Their deep expertise will shape how we scale; not just bigger, but better.”

Sol de Janeiro said the appointments mean that 71% of its C-Suite is made up of women as it continues to work on building a company that mirrors the diverse community it serves.

Founded in 2015, Sol de Janeiro had a majority stake in its business acquired by L’Occitane in 2021.
