Sephora pilots app in ChatGPT

The Sephora beauty retailer has launched a US pilot of an app in ChatGPT as it looks to offer customers a new personalised beauty experience.

The app will allow people to discover and shop for the right products with curated advice and recommendations through an intuitive, AI-powered interface.​ Customers will be able to use their Sephora loyalty rewards and member benefits such as free shipping promotions and samples, with future updates enabling payments and checkout directly within the app.

Anca Marola, global chief digital officer of Sephora, said: “At Sephora we are passionate about assisting our customers with the best beauty advice and curation, wherever and whenever they want.

“Today this means piloting the Sephora app on new intelligent channels such as ChatGPT. We are proud to introduce this experience in the US market, with the goal of expanding this globally.”

ChatGPT users will be able to ask for beauty advice directly in the chat and the Sephora app will appear with personalised recommendations. These will be tailored to the customer’s preferences if they choose to link their Beauty Insider account.
