Dr. Martens appoints former Sephora exec Alia Gogi as non-executive director

Footwear brand Dr. Martens has appointed Alia Gogi as a non-executive director, effective 1 September.

Gogi has significant international retail and commercial experience, having spent over 13 years at Sephora, most recently as president of Asia, where she was responsible for operations across ten markets.

Earlier in her career, she held senior commercial roles at A.S. Watson Group, the owner of Superdrug and Savers, and has also worked in brand and category management at Nestlé and Sainsbury’s.

Gogi currently serves as an independent director of global beauty company Coty Inc.

On joining the Dr Martens board, she will also become a member of the audit and risk, remuneration, and nomination committees.

Paul Mason, Dr. Martens chairman, said: ‘The board is pleased to welcome Alia to Dr. Martens. As we continue to execute our consumer-first strategy, her strong consumer and product focus, together with her international perspective and experience of omnichannel growth, will bring valuable insight as we continue to develop and scale the Dr. Martens brand globally’.

In a statement ahead of its AGM this month, Dr. Martens said its full year guidance remained unchanged as trading since the start of its current financial year had been in line with expectations.

In May, it reported a return to profit growth in the year to 29 March  as it continued to move from a channel led to a consumer-first operating model.
