Asda Pharmacy offers meningitis B vaccine at cost price
Asda Pharmacy is offering its meningitis B (MenB) vaccination at cost price until 30 April following the recent outbreak of the infection affecting mostly students in Kent.
Customers will be able to access the vaccine for £75 per dose or £150 for a full course (two doses), compared to the usual price of £179.96 for a dual dose.
Subscribe to TRBAsda said will be prioritising vulnerable groups, particularly 18 to 25 year olds, for available vaccines. These will be offered at all 242 Asda Pharmacies across the UK on a first come, first serve basis.
Faisal Tuddy, head of pharmacy and superintendent pharmacist at Asda, said: “We understand that many families are increasingly worried about the Meningitis B outbreak and as a community-focussed retailer, we want to do all we can to help.
“By offering this vaccine at cost price, we’re making it as easy and affordable as possible for people who can’t access it through the NHS
“This service is available in all Asda Pharmacies and we’re consistently monitoring stock levels to ensure we can offer this service to as many customers as possible.”
Yesterday, Morrisons confirmed that an employee at its Sittingbourne distribution centre had contracted the infection after visiting Club Chemistry in Canterbury.
