Shop Direct hires group chief financial officer

Shop Direct, the owner of Very.co.uk and Littlewoods.com, has appointed Ben Fletcher as its group chief financial officer.

Due to join the company on 6 January, Fletcher will report to Shop Direct chief executive Henry Birch in his new position and will lead the company’s 150-strong finance team. He will assume the role currently held on an interim basis by Dominic Appleton, who will remain with the business as Shop Direct’s finance director.

Fletcher previously held the position of European president at Clarks Shoes. Prior to that, he worked with  Walgreens Boots Alliance where his most recent role was managing director of Boots Opticians. Previous positions also include being finance director for Boots UK & Ireland and commercial finance director for Boots UK.

Birch said: “Ben is an outstanding finance and general management leader, who has consistently delivered growth across large and complex consumer businesses. He’s proven to be customer and colleague-focused, with significant experience in online. He’ll play a vital part as we invest to be the number one destination for shoppers who value a combination of leading brands and flexible ways to pay.”
