Pets at Home appoints operations director for retail

Pets at Home has appointed Steve Shirley as operations director for retail.

Having spent nearly 30 years working with Asda, Shirley was previously the supermarket’s vice-president of wholesale and convenience where he was responsible for the end-to-end operating model and proposition of Asda Express stores. Prior to that, he held numerous positions as a senior retail director, including running stores across Manchester, Lancashire and Yorkshire.

In his new role, he will report to Lisa Miao, chief operating officer retail, and will be part of Pets at Home’s senior retail leadership team. He will be responsible for all Pets at Home’s 457 stores and will lead the retail operations and field teams as the business continues to develop its store estate across the UK.

Miao said: “It is great to welcome Steve to the team. He is a very experienced, results-driven and respected retailer and has developed a wealth of experience across end-to-end retail operations, including establishing a broad range of store formats.”
