M&S appoints new marketing director for M&S Food

Marks & Spencer has appointed Andrew Hicks as its new marketing director for M&S Food.

The appointment is part of a series of planned moves and new hires by the retailer as it accelerates its transformation.

With more than 20 years’ marketing experience across Australia and South Africa, Hicks has been working as chief marketing officer at Woolworths Group for the last seven years following roles as marketing director for Woolworths Food and Woolworths Liquor.

Due to take up his new role 1 September, he will report to M&S Food managing director Alex Freudmann who he has worked with before.

The appointment follows Sharry Cramond’s move to lead marketing for M&S fashion, home & beauty as the business enters its next phase of transformation under the new leadership of John Lyttle, who was hired earlier this year. Other new members of his team include James Mugford who is leading M&S beauty and David James, who is heading up supply chain.

Meanwhile, Kevin Bennett will take up his previously announced role as M&S food logistics director – Gist CEO on 7  July. M&S said Bennett had been fundamental in kicking off the supply chain and logistics transformation in fashion, home & beauty and will now focus on delivering the plan to modernise the food supply chain.
