GroceryAid Supports Colleagues with Winter Heating Grants

GroceryAid has awarded more than £310,000 in Winter Heating Grants to help grocery colleagues from low-income households meet the increasing cost of energy bills.

The GroceryAid Winter Heating Grant fund received more than 2,000 applications within four days of opening, resulting in more than 2110 colleagues receiving a £150 grant.

Mandi Leonard, GroceryAid Welfare Director said: “Understanding the wider economic challenges of our colleagues helps us provide relevant welfare support when required. We are delighted to make such a positive impact in the lives of so many employees in a short amount of time.

“We aim to be the most accessible benevolent fund for grocery colleagues, so to hear that 100% of colleagues who applied for our grant said the decision time was reasonable and the service from GroceryAid positive, is really encouraging.

The Winter Heating Grant closed in January 22. Colleagues who have currently worked in the grocery industry for more than six months may be eligible for alternative financial support if they have experienced an unexpected emergency, a change in circumstances or a sudden gap in income.
