B&Q on track for 100% responsible sourcing of wood and timber in 2024
Home improvement retailer B&Q has said it responsibly sourced 99.3% of its timber and paper products in 2023 as it looks ahead to reaching its target of 100% in 2024.
A founding member of the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), which was established over 30 years ago, B&Q said its responsibly sourced wood and paper products are certified with full chain of custody by either the FSC or the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC).
Subscribe to TRBThis ensures that all timber and paper products sold by the retailer are sourced from well managed forests that provide environmental, social and economic benefits.
The products range from wallpaper, picture frames and kitchen cabinets to timber, internal doors, leisure furniture and decking planks.
Paul White, B&Q’s commercial director, said: “At B&Q, we’re committed to helping customers make more sustainable choices, and to sourcing 100% of our wood and paper products from responsibly managed forests. This year we’re on track to hit that target having achieved 99.3% responsibly sourced wood and paper in our supply chain in 2023.”
