Waitrose introduces subscription passes for online customers

Waitrose is rolling out a subscription service for deliveries of grocery orders purchased from its website or app.

The new ‘Waitrose Delivery Pass’ gives customers with an online grocery account the option to pay upfront for a subscription period of one month, six months or 12 months. Shoppers can also book up to one available grocery delivery slot per day at no additional delivery cost.

Prices range from £8 for one month to £45 for six months and £85 for a year. Waitrose said the annual pass could save a customer booking one £4 delivery per week up to £123 annually.

The pass will also give customers early access to Waitrose Christmas delivery slots which go live in September.

Laura Burbedge, director of Waitrose Online, said: “We’re investing in our online business to continuously improve it, giving our customers even greater value and the best possible experience.

“Thousands of customers signed up for Delivery Passes through our trial, so we expect to see strong demand across the UK as we roll it out.”
